Welcome back for the 2025-2026 school year!  We are all so excited about the direction we are heading this year. We look forward to spending more time outdoors with your child and also building upon their natural curiosity to engage them in their learning. Teachers have been working on building arcs of inquiry to create exciting and deeper learning.

Here’s a quick reminder of school logistics:

• All students can have a free breakfast and lunch every day. Breakfast will be available from 8:00-8:30 in the cafeteria. 
  • Note: Because every student can have free breakfast and lunch, the office will not accept any food deliveries during the school day.
• All students will enter through the front gate. Students will line up at 8:20, I will give them a morning welcome at 8:25 and then everyone heads off to class with the 8:30 bell. 
  • If you are bringing your child in and plan to stay after the bell, you must scan in at the office as you arrive.
  • After 8:30, adult visitors must be signed (scanned) in at the office for a visitors badge.
• Anything that needs to be dropped off during the day (homework, jackets, instruments, etc.) should be taken to the office and we will deliver it to your child.
• The bell schedule will remain the same as last year. 
  • Grades TK-K will be dismissed at 1:15 every day. 
  • Grades 1-3 will be dismissed at 2:31 and Grades 4-6 will be dismissed at 2:51 on regular school days. 
  • Minimum day dismissal times are 1:15 for Grades TK-3 and 1:35 for grades 4-6. Please be on time to pick up your children. 
    • Every Wednesday is a minimum day. Teachers must attend professional development promptly at 1:45. Please be respectful of that time.
• Reminder: we will not dismiss students in the last 20 minutes of their school day. 

• Please fill out the annual forms before the beginning of school. They can be found at wccusd.powerschool.com/public under the Forms link.
• We welcome parent and community volunteers. Approved parents and volunteers must check in at the office. 
  • Volunteers must have QR code from Verkada, our new volunteer screening platform.
    • All volunteers must apply through this system.

Finally, I’d like to remind you that we welcome “badged” parent and community volunteers. Studies show that when “schools, families, and community groups work together to support learning, children tend to do better in school, stay in school longer, and like school more” (A New Wave of Evidence, Southwest Educational Development Lab). Stop in at the office to find out how you can help - either on site or at home.  Let’s work together to make our children the best students they can be!

¡Bienvenidos de nuevo al curso escolar 2025-2026! Estamos muy entusiasmados con el rumbo que estamos tomando este año. Aquí hay un breve recordatorio de la logística escolar:

• Todos los estudiantes pueden disfrutar de desayuno y almuerzo gratuitos todos los días. El desayuno estará disponible de 8:00 a 8:30 en la cafetería.
  • Nota: Debido a que todos los estudiantes pueden tener desayuno y almuerzo gratis, la oficina no aceptará ninguna entrega de alimentos durante el día escolar.

Finalmente, me gustaría recordarles que damos la bienvenida a padres y voluntarios comunitarios con credenciales.
